Rest To Be Fortified & Renewed

Updated: Jul 16, 2022

This weekend as I laid in bed with Covid, I heard a line from the song “promises”. It says “I will rest in your promises, my confidence is your faithfulness”.

I thought “ok Lord, I’m resting…in fact, I’ve been laying down in the bed literally all night and day for the last two days”…God said back to me “Laying down is NOT the same thing as resting”. MY GOD🙌🏾

Many are in a laying down posture. We THINK that means we are resting in God and trusting Him….we are being deceived.

The definition of laying down is this:

To place oneself or be in a prostrate position in order to rest or sleep. To accept without protest or opposition

Now, while this definition has the word “rest” in it…it’s not the type of rest God’s children need to take. It’s the type of rest where you leave yourself vulnerable to the enemies seeds of doubt.

To accept without protest means you have laid down to die. What God wanted as a temporary resting place for you, has become your coffin. The place where you laid down and never got up…you let the enemy keep you laying down and he TRICKED you into not speaking over your life with the power God has given you.

You have royalty running through your veins, you are made to conquer…but you have laid down and fallen into a slumber of doubt. You have forgotten who you are!

God says it’s time to get up! It’s time to stop allowing the enemy to keep you doubting. It’s time to pose some opposition to his attacks!

Resting is:

To cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.

You rest to recover! To regain strength…it’s not a position of complete surrender! It’s a time to allow God to fortify and replenish your mind, body, and soul for the purpose He is moving you into.

During your rest the enemy doesn’t have access. True rest is between you and God. You have to change your mindset about laying down vs resting. Don’t allow yourself to be tricked into a position of laying down where you can be tormented.

It’s time to truly rest…NOT give up. Many are tired and throwing in the towel when God really just wanted you to rest. He wanted you to allow Him in to recover and strengthen you. But instead, you gave up.

There is power in rest, not laying down.

As you begin to rest by trusting God fully and releasing your doubt, cynicism, old language, and fear, God will begin to fortify your mind in ways you have never experienced before. You will begin to speak to and move mountains in your life as your confidence builds. You will use your words to speak life and supernatural healing. You will become the soldier for the Kingdom you were meant to be!

So rest in Gods promises…be strengthened and replenished.
